Saw the shadow man today. Without his shadow dog. 😥
Janey: Was I your shadow dog?
Me: Yes you were. And, you still are.
Janey: Woof!
I know where the body is buried.
After studying the picture I think I know where the body is buried. Where’s my spade?
Janey washing in the brook.
A card from the vets.
After bringing home Janeys ashes I took the casket out of the cardboard box and placed her by Sali and Dusty. Then 2 days ago I picked the box out of its bag to put away and found a nice handwritten card from the vets, some forget-me-nots and a small laminated card. Cue eye-grit.
The Original Rainbow Bridge Poem
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated again.

A burnt section of hedgerow.
10 years ago this section of fencing and the hedgerow were set on fire by vandals. Even now it’s struggling to return to its former glory.
Small gorse bush struggles to grow.
Saw this small gorse bush growing. I think it may struggle to grow much further as it’s away from the main hedge and almost on the footpath. It may succumb to a passing tractor, hedge trimmer or people.
Today’s walk May 3rd 2019.
Today’s 5km walk was very enjoyable even though there was an ever threat of a sudden and prolonged downpour. The clouds were always looking ominous.
It’s about all politicians.
What’s clear about the local elections is that voters have lost confidence in all politicians of whatever party. They see them as duplicitous following their failure to complete #Brexit following the majority choice made by voters to leave the #EU completely.
The wheelie bin is out.
The wheelie bin is out so I’m expecting some ghostly barks later from Janey, Lisa, Dusty and Sali.
Are we leaving Twitter?
If Janey were still here she’d be asking “Are we leaving Twitter?”. And I’d have to say, “Probably, old girl. Without you to photograph there’s only sadness on Twitter.”.
And, she’d say “I understand what’s wrong and I’ll always support your decision. It’s been fun and we’ve enjoyed it haven’t we?”. “We have Janey, we have.”. 😥
